The Danville Green came alive on Wednesday, June 10, as the Danville Farmers Market officially kicked off its 2026 season. After months of planning, preparation, and community collaboration, opening day exceeded expectations and reminded us exactly why local markets matter.
From the moment vendors began setting up, there was an unmistakable sense of excitement in the air. By market opening, the Green was bustling with neighbors, families, visitors, and supporters eager to shop local, enjoy great food, connect with friends, and celebrate the start of summer in Danville.
More than just a place to shop, the Danville Farmers Market was designed to be a true Community Night on the Green, and opening day delivered exactly that. Visitors explored a wide variety of local vendors offering plant starts, baked goods, flowers, maple products, artisan crafts, prepared foods, cold treats and more.
We were especially excited to welcome The Shepherd's Hearth, Vermont's hyper-local, hyper-seasonal, wood-fired mobile kitchen. Their delicious offerings quickly became a crowd favorite and showcased the incredible quality and creativity of food being produced right here in the Northeast Kingdom.

Families found plenty to enjoy throughout the evening. Children explored activities at the Kids Tent and found new friends to play with on the green, while the Children's Museum of the Northeast Kingdom provided toys and baby items that could be taken home free of charge. Face painting and lawn games kept smiles on faces all evening long.
The market also welcomed Neighbors in Action as our first Community Table of the Week, giving attendees the opportunity to learn about the organization's important work supporting food access and social connections throughout our region.
Adding even more energy to the evening, Lamoille Valley Bike Tours joined us with e-bike demonstrations and information about local cycling opportunities along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail. Their presence highlighted another way residents and visitors can experience everything our community has to offer. Find them at the Train Station Thursday through Saturdays during the Summer season.
Of course, no farmers market is complete without great music. Live performances provided the perfect soundtrack for an evening spent shopping, dining, and gathering with friends on the Green. Thank you to Will Sturcke and Friends plus Frosty Frog for keeping the vibes immaculate for the night.
Opening day was a wonderful reminder that farmers markets are about more than transactions, they're about relationships. They're about supporting local farmers, makers, and entrepreneurs while creating a space where community can thrive.
The Danville Farmers Market will continue every Wednesday through October 14 from 3:30 to 7:00pm on the Danville Green. Each week will feature a unique mix of vendors, live music, community organizations, demonstrations, classes, fitness activities, children's programming, and special events.
Thank you to our vendors, volunteers, sponsors, musicians, community partners, and everyone who came out to support opening day. Your enthusiasm and support helped make our first market of the season a tremendous success.
We can't wait to see you again next Wednesday on the Green!
